Spinach - 4 bunches
Pearl onions - - 1 cup
Red Chillies -- 2
Mustad - 1 tsp
Urat dal - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Buttermilk - 2 tbsps
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Grated Coconut -- 3 tbsps


1) Heat oil in a kadai . Once hot , add mustard and urat dal . When it splutters , add red chillies and chopped onion . Saute till tender .

2) Add cleaned and chopped spinach to it . Sprinkle little water and cover with a lid.

3) Once cooked well , add grated coconut and saute till the raw smell of coconut leaves .

4) Finally , add buttermilk with turmeric powder and asafoetida and mix them well in slow flame for 2-3 minutes .

Serve hot with Rice .Sending this Divya's Healing Food : Spinach.

Wow, sounds and looks real delicious. I have some spinach at home and my husband loves anything cooked with yogurt or buttermilk, so will surely try in a day or 2.

Red Chillies - 25 gms
Coriander seeds - 15 gms
Cumin seeds - 10 gms
Black Pepper- 10 gms
Biriyani Leaf- 3
Cloves - 10 gms
Dried and fried Garlic cloves - 10 nos
Cinnamon sticks - few
Staranise - few
Dried Mint - 5 tsps
Kasthuri Methi - few 
Mustard - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 5 gms
Kuskus - 1 tsp


1) Dry fry them one by one and grind them to a fine powder with sufficient salt.
2) Store them in an air tight container.
