TAMIZHAR SAMAYAL TUESDAY EVENT

We group of friends started a new event Tamizhar Samayal Tuesday which is going to happen in 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month. Tamilnadu cuisine is famous for its flavor and spices,each district has their own signature recipes.We know very well that Tamilians have many delicious foods, for example Kanchipuram is famous for idlis, while Tirunelveli is famous for halwa, needless to say much about the famous Chettinad cuisine and another well known is Kongu cuisine.

Yes we are proud to be Tamilians and we love to share our knowledge of this famous foods, thus we planned this event.In this event you can cook and show case the food which is very popular and traditional in any region of Tamilnadu.Both veg and non-veg recipes are allowed.

This event doesn't have any specific themes or ingredients,cook anything popular in the region of Tamilnadu.The main motto of the event is to know the food cultures followed in each region especially in village sides.

HOME BAKERS CHALLENGE !!!!!

We are a group of friends who love baking have joined hands together. Our motive is to learn and excel in baking, helping each other. One fine day, we were discussing about Baking and its techniques and suddenly we got an idea what if we start a group and bake together, so that we can learn things together. Thus this group, Home Bakers Challenge was born. 

This is how it works, every month one person of the team will suggest a recipe and all the members have to bake the recipe and reveal it on the said date. By doing this we get to learn new techniques and explore the side of baking which otherwise we would not have ventured so. With the support and suggestions from the group members this is possible.

SEMIYA KESARI

Semiya Kesari to celebrate a special moment, my blog's third birthday . Am thankful to all the readers who encourage me with their

INGREDIENTS :

Roasted semiya - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Water - sufficient .
Ghee

Elachi 

METHOD OF PREPARATION :

1) Ghee roast the semiya and keep it aside.Boil water in pan. When it starts boiling, add semiya, cook till semiya is well cooked .

2) Add sugar syrup and mix it well with semiya . Add a ladle of ghee. The semiya must not stick to the pan .

3) Garnish with Elachi.

300th POST , RICE KHEER AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN EVENT

Dear friends ,

This is my 300th post . It couldn't have happened without your support and encouragement . Thank you girls .A small gift to all of you .

We celebrate this moment with a yummy rice kheer and an event ,


INGREDIENTS :

Cooked Rice - 1/2 cup
Milk - 1/2 litre
Sugar -- 4 tbsps
Sugar candy / Kalkandu - - 1 handful
Elachi - 3
Cashews and Raisins



METHOD OF PREPARATION :

1) Boil milk in a heavy bottomed vessel . Allow it to reduce to 3/4 of it .
2) Then dissolve sugar and kalkandu .
3) Add rice slowly and stir it well .Cook in slow flame .
4) Wait till milk thickens.
5) Once done , check for the payasam consistency and taste.
6) Garnish it with ghee fried cashews ,elachi and raisins.
