Keluthi Meen Kuzhambu / Catfish curry


Fish - 1 kg
Pearl Onions - 1/2 cup
Jeera and Methi seeds - 1 tsp each
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Red Chillies - 10 nos
Tamarind - a big lemon size(soak tamarind in water for 20 minutes and take thick tamarind juice/extract )
Chilli powder- 2 tsps
Fish masala powder - 4 tsps
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste.


1) Grind onion , red chillies,coconut ,Jeera,Pepper and methi seeds with little water .
2) Mariante fish with turmeric powder and salt for few minutes.
3 )Heat oil in a kadai .Add grinded masala with chilli powder , fish masala powder and salt.
4) Then,add tamarind water and bring it to boil .
5) Finally, add marinated fish to it .Leave in slow flame till fish is fully cooked and the oil separates out .

Serve hot with Rice .

Gosh!!!Nicely made with those spicy flavor. I usually make fish curry for my other half because its his fav. Thanks for your version, lined up to try because you know the same type of curry can be somewhat boring.

Red Chillies - 25 gms
Coriander seeds - 15 gms
Cumin seeds - 10 gms
Black Pepper- 10 gms
Biriyani Leaf- 3
Cloves - 10 gms
Dried and fried Garlic cloves - 10 nos
Cinnamon sticks - few
Staranise - few
Dried Mint - 5 tsps
Kasthuri Methi - few 
Mustard - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 5 gms
Kuskus - 1 tsp


1) Dry fry them one by one and grind them to a fine powder with sufficient salt.
2) Store them in an air tight container.
