MURUNGAIKAI KOOTU


INGREDIENTS :
 

Drumsticks -- 2 
Moong dal - 1/2 cup
Pearl Onion - 10 (chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

For Tadka:

Red Chillies - 2 
Mustard - 1 tsp 
Jeera - 1 tsp
Curry leaves 

To Grind: 

Grated Coconut - 2 tbsps
Channa dal - 1 tsp 
Jeera - 1 tsp 
Asafoetida - 1 tsp 
Green Chillies - 5 

METHOD OF PREPARATION

1) Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Roast moong dal for few minutes and add 1 1/2 cups of water. Pressure cook dal with a tsp of oil and turmeric powder for 2 whistles . Allow the steam to leave and keep aside.


2) Meanwhile , heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add in onion and saute till tender. Then, add chopped drumstick with little water and boil it, till it is cooked soft. 



3) Then , add the grinded masala to it. 



4) Then, mix in cooked dal with little water. Bring it to boil for 5 minutes.




5) Finally , temper it with mustard , jeera, red chillies and curry leaves. 




Serve hot with Rice .
