MURUNGAIKAI KOOTU


INGREDIENTS :
 

Drumsticks -- 2 
Moong dal - 1/2 cup
Pearl Onion - 10 (chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

For Tadka:

Red Chillies - 2 
Mustard - 1 tsp 
Jeera - 1 tsp
Curry leaves 

To Grind: 

Grated Coconut - 2 tbsps
Channa dal - 1 tsp 
Jeera - 1 tsp 
Asafoetida - 1 tsp 
Green Chillies - 5 

METHOD OF PREPARATION

1) Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Roast moong dal for few minutes and add 1 1/2 cups of water. Pressure cook dal with a tsp of oil and turmeric powder for 2 whistles . Allow the steam to leave and keep aside.


2) Meanwhile , heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add in onion and saute till tender. Then, add chopped drumstick with little water and boil it, till it is cooked soft. 



3) Then , add the grinded masala to it. 



4) Then, mix in cooked dal with little water. Bring it to boil for 5 minutes.




5) Finally , temper it with mustard , jeera, red chillies and curry leaves. 




Serve hot with Rice .

BOTTLEGOURD MOR PACHADI




INGREDIENTS : 

Bottlegourd - 1 cup (cubed) 
Fresh curd - 1 cup 
Coconut - 4 pieces 
Green chillies - 2 
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp 
Salt to taste 

For Tadka : 

Mustard - 1 tsp 
Jeera - 1 tsp
Red chillies - 2 
Curry leaves 
Channa dal - 1 tsp 

METHOD OF PREPARATION : 

1) Heat oil in a pan . Once hot , add mustard, jeera and red chillies.When it splutters , add channa dal and roast it half brown .



2) Add curry leaves . Then , add chopped gourd and saute well .Sprinkle little water and cover with a lid . 



3) Meanwhile , fry coconut pieces and green chillies with a pinch of asafoetida and grind it with curd and keep aside. 

4) Once veggie is cooked well , add turmeric powder and mix well. 


5) Turn off the flame and add the beaten curd to it and mix well. 




Serve hot with Rice .

MIXED LENTILS VADA / KALAVAI PARUPPU VADAI



INGREDIENTS :

Channa dal -- 1 handful
Toor dal - - 1 handful
Masoor dal - 1 handful
Moong dal - 1 handful
Green gram - 1 handful
Urat dal - 1 handful
Salt to taste
Green Chillies -3
Ginger - a small piece
Onion - 1 big chopped
Curry leaves
Rice flour - 2-3 tbsps
Jeera - 2 tsp

METHOD OF PREPARATION :

1) Soak all the dal for 3 hours .
2) Grind them coarsely with salt , ginger and green chillies.
3) Transfer it to a big vessel , add jeera , chopped onion and curry leaves .Mix it well .If it is little watery , add 2 tbsps of rice flour to it
4) Take a small ball of it and then flatten it .
5) Meanwhile , heat oil in a kadai . Once hot , drop the vadai and cook till turns brown .

Serve hot with Chutney / Sambar .

RAVA PAYASAM / SOOJI KHEER AND BEAUTIFUL AWARDS

INGREDIENTS : Rava -- 1 cup Cardamom pods - 4 Cashews - 6 Raisins - 6 Milk - 1/2 litre Sugar as per your taste. METHOD OF PREPARATION : 1 ) Ghee roast rava till the flavour rules out . 2) Boil milk with sugar till it thickens . 3) Meanwhile , cook rava with equal quantity of water . 4) Once rava is done , mix it well in milk without lumps . Stir continuously . 5) Garnish with nuts and Raisins. Sending this to kheer festival . Srilekha has given this award as the Winner of EFM - Paratha series .Thank you so much dear .
