Fish(boneless) - 1 kg
Rice - 1 cup
Coriander leaves,Curry leaves,Biriyani leaves,Mint leaves
Salt to taste
Onion - 1 big sliced
Tomato - 2 big sliced
Fish masala - 2 tspsCinnamon - 3
Cloves - 1 
Green chillies - 4 split

To marinate Fish : 

Chilli powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp 
Lemon - 1 
Fish masala - 2 tsps

To Grind : 

Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Elachi - 2 
Ginger - a small piece
Garlic cloves - 7-8
Cinnamon sticks -1 
Cloves - 2


1) Marinate fish with little of chilli powder , coriander powder , salt,turmeric powder and fish masala for 30 minutes. Then , shallow fry them till done . Don't roast it fully fried.
2) Heat oil or ghee in kadai . Once hot add whole spices, biriyani leaves for 2 minutes , followed by sliced onion and saute till half brown .
3) Then add tomato , coriander leaves,pudina and split chillies . Saute it till tender . 
4) Add half fried fish , add chilli powder ,grinded masala , salt and cook till fish is well mixed with the masala (5-10) minutes . 
5) Meanwhile, cook rice and 1 1/2 cups of water in the rice cook.Wait till the rice is half cooked with some left over water.
6) Then , add the fish cooked with the masalas to it and don't mix it up,as fish may be broken.Cook till done . Remove from the cooking pan from the cooker and then mix it up slowly . Squeeze lemon juice over it.

Serve hot with Onion Raitha and Pudina Chutney .

Red Chillies - 25 gms
Coriander seeds - 15 gms
Cumin seeds - 10 gms
Black Pepper- 10 gms
Biriyani Leaf- 3
Cloves - 10 gms
Dried and fried Garlic cloves - 10 nos
Cinnamon sticks - few
Staranise - few
Dried Mint - 5 tsps
Kasthuri Methi - few 
Mustard - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 5 gms
Kuskus - 1 tsp


1) Dry fry them one by one and grind them to a fine powder with sufficient salt.
2) Store them in an air tight container.
