BITTERGOURD PEPPER FRY


INGREDIENTS: 


  • Bittergourd - 200 gms 
  • Pepper-Jeera Powder - 3 tsps 
  • Onion - 1 finely chopped 
  • Mustard and Jeera - 1 tsp each.  
  • Red chillies - 3
  • Salt to taste. 






  METHOD OF PREPARATION: 

1) Heat oil . Add mustard, jeera, red chillies . Once it splutters, add chopped onion and saute till tender.





2) Add chopped bittergourd and sprinkle little water . Cover with a lid . Cook till it softens. 




3) Add turmeric powder , pepper jeera powder and salt and mix it well. 






4) Cook till it gets fried well. 

Serve hot with Sambar rice or Curd rice. Sending this to Divya's Think spice--Think Pepper

Bittergourd is one veg which i don't like at all.
I think it is childhood trauma when mom used to force us eat them even when we din't like them.

Gud one Shama....but as you seen..we dont add mustard seeds, pepper-jeera or chilli powder....will try sometime this one

i just got some fresh bitter gourd from the indian store and this is a pretty good version than mine, especially with the pepper powder!!

Love bitter gourds. I always use chilly powder only, never used pepper - jeera combination. Will sure next time.
